BACNOMAs would like to invite all local architecture students to help us welcome Marshall Purnell, FAIA to the Boston Architectural College. The BAC is honored to award Mr. Purnell with an Honorary Doctoral Degree in Architecture at the 120th BAC Commencement, May 30, 2009. This honarary degree is given in recognition of his historic leadership as the first African American President of AIA, Past President of NOMA, and his work as Principal of Devrouax + Purnell.

Please join us on Friday, May 29th at 3:00 pm, 320 Newbury St., 1st Floor Meeting Room for an exciting program that will include members of BACNOMAs introducing their ideas for an entry in the Annual NOMA Design Competition. Elements from a recent Sketch Problem and how they will be transformed will be presented and discusssed with Mr. Purnell, who will be available to provide feedback to the students and their approach to the design competition. Mr. Purnell will then engage the entire room of students in an open dialogue on his experience as an architect and the state of the profession.
