Containers to Clinics (C2C) is excited to introduce a prototype clinic on-site at the ICA for four days in November. Tours by C2C staff are available. The clinic consists of two 8'x20' industrial shipping containers, retrofitted and converted into a rural medical clinic with two patient consultation rooms, a diagnostic laboratory, and a patient pharmacy. It was fabricated in Rhode Island by a team of design-builders from Stack Design Build. The C2C clinic is an example of resource-constrained architecture intended for high social impact, and this model has generated significant interest in Boston’s public health and design communities. Take a tour of the facility before it is deployed to the Dominican Republic!

C2C is a non-profit initiative seeking to fill gaps in the global health care delivery system. To that end, C2C is retrofitting shipping containers for use as primary health facilities that focus on the unique needs of women, infants, and children.

For more details on C2C’s work or to let us know you’ll be stopping by to see us at the ICA, please contact Kathleen Fleming.
