Mount Auburn Cemetery, 580 Mt. Auburn Street, Cambridge

Did you know that Mount Auburn Cemetery was the first large-scale designed landscape open to the public in the United States? The success of Mount Auburn and other rural cemeteries led to the creation of America's public parks.

Join the Boston Preservation Alliance and Natalie Wampler, Mount Auburn Cemetery's Preservation & Facilities Planner, for a tour of Mount Auburn Cemetery, a National Historic Landmark, followed by refreshments in Bigelow Chapel. During the walking tour guests will learn about Mount Auburn's history, stories behind the stones, and current preservation projects.

The tour will commence at the entrance gate. Mount Auburn Cemetery is located in Cambridge and Watertown, MA, just west of Harvard Square and is accessible by MBTA. Directions can be found here: www.mountauburn.org/directions

This event is free for Alliance members; $10 for non-members. Space is limited. Please RSVP to Christine Piontek: cpiontek@bostonpreservation.org by June 11th to reserve your place.
