Scholarships Available to BAC Students

The Richard Painter Scholarship - $1,000

The Richard Painter Scholarship was established in 2001 in honor of Richard Painter, a principal at Beacon Architectural Associates. Beacon principals recognize the demands of working and studying full-time, and hope the scholarship will inspire students to continue progression towards the completion of their program of study.

To apply, students must:

-Be enrolled in the BID, B.Arch, BDS or BLA programs
-Have completed at least two semesters in the Concurrent Program by May 2010
-Have applied for and received Financial Aid (can include Stafford Loans)
-Be in good academic standing
-Submit a 250-500 word essay about their experiences balancing academics and practice at the BAC

The Adeline Graves Fournier Sketch Prize – 1st Place: $300, 2nd Place: $200

The Adeline Graves Fournier Prize was established in 1997 at the Boston Architectural College by her husband, Joseph Fournier, and her family. Adeline (Ada) Graves was a graduate and long-standing supporter of the BAC. She was a dedicated and caring friend of many generations of BAC students. This prize honors her great enthusiasm for life and art. This prize rewards a meritorious student who demonstrates creativity, quality of work, and enthusiasm for sketching as a means of communication.

To apply, students must:

-Be enrolled in any degree program at the BAC
-Be in Segment I, II, or III and in good academic standing
-Have not previously won this prize
-Submit one current sketchbook or illustrated journal with their freehand drawings, illustrating work and impressions gained while attending the BAC. Work from previous schools should not be included. Work cannot be done on a computer.

Please submit your sketchbook or journal to Kendra Leahy, Manager of Honors and Awards by 6 pm on Monday, November 22, 2010.  You may drop them off to her office on the 4th floor of 100 Mass. Ave.   Please contact Kendra at if you have any questions.

The Hart Howerton Fellowship

The Hart Howerton Fellowship is open to undergraduate and graduate Architecture, Planning and Landscape Architecture. The fellowship provides students with a defined summer internship within their practice, combined with 3 weeks of self-directed travel. Applications are due January 28, 2011.
