Laura Solano, Principal, at the office of Michael Van Valkenburgh Associates, Inc. in Cambridge, MA will speak on the development of the Sustainable Sites Initiative.

The Sustainable Sites Initiative™ (SITES™) is an interdisciplinary effort by the American Society of Landscape Architects, the Lady Bird Johnson Wildflower Center at The University of Texas at Austin and the United States Botanic Garden to create voluntary national guidelines and performance benchmarks for sustainable land design, construction and maintenance practices.

Laura’s expertise as a technical advisor helped to inform the development of the Guidelines and Performance Benchmarks 2009 of SITES. Ms. Solano will discuss the primary tenets of the initiative and current pilot projects.
