Historic Agricultural Internship
Coggeshall Farm Museum, in Bristol, RI is offering a paid internship for the upcoming 2011 summer season. Students and professionals who are looking to expand their knowledge and gain experience in historic agriculture are welcome to apply. Accepted interns will be required to work in a variety of fields around the museum.
Responsibilities would include:
- Hand cultivatin and weeding an 18th century garden using historic tools and techniques
- Working and interpreting 18th century agrarian life in coastal Rhode Island to the public
- Planting, cultivating, harvesting, and seed saving over 40 varieties of heirloom vegetables,
- fruit, and herbs
- Recording and reporting the growth, progress, and yields of the museum’s garden
