Lecture title: Educating architects for a transforming city
Thursday March 31, 2011 at 7 pm
Cascieri Hall, 320 Newbury Street

Dr. Aart Oxenaar,
Director of the Academy of Architecture, Amsterdam School of the Arts. Educating Architects for a Transforming City will explore the concurrent education model and the ways in which it exemplifies the notion of a "Porous Academy" by facilitating constant exchange between School and City.

Aart will discuss the century-old relationship between the Academy of Architecture and the City of Amsterdam, as well as the importance of the concurrent education model in building and supporting the network that has made successful collaboration possible.

He will share insight on how this exchange is evidence of the ability and necessity of architecture schools to remain open to the changing demands of society, while simultaneously maintaining the essence of the craft of architecture within a variety of contexts.

The lecture is free and open to the public.  For more information, click here.
