Ever wonder who the McCormick Gallery is named after? Katharine McCormick was a benefactor of the BAC, especially regarding fundraising efforts for the 320 Newbury Street building.

Previous to the current 320 Newbury Street building, the BAC was teaching courses in what was formerly a stable, which Joe Richardson from the BAC fundraising committee referred to as "the old stable."

In 1961, Joe Richardson invited Katharine McCormick to see the "fine group of boys" in the Atelier - an ironic statement considering that women had been studying at the BAC for more than 10 years.
