Boston Athletic Association 10 K
The Boston Transportation Department would like to inform motorists to expect delays and traffic congestion in the downtown area on Sunday, June 26. The Boston Athletic Association will be running a new 10K road race on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
The race will kick-off on Charles Street near the Center Gate of the Boston Public Garden at 8 AM and will continue through the following route: North on Charles Street, left on Beacon Street, left on Arlington Street, right on Commonwealth Avenue, under the Massachusetts Avenue underpass and continue on Commonwealth Avenue, right on Charlesgate East, left on Beacon Street, right on Bay State Road, left on University Drive, right on Commonwealth Avenue, turnaround on Commonwealth Avenue at Babcock Street, straight on Beacon Street, right on Charlesgate West, left on Commonweath Avenue under the Massachusetts Avenue Underpass, continue on Commonwealth Avenue, right on Arlington Street, left on Boylston Street, left on Charles Street where the race will finish.
To protect public safety the Boston Police Department will exclude vehicular traffic from the route beginning at 7:30 AM.
To accommodate the race, temporary “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Sunday 6 AM to 12 PM signs will be posted on the following streets:
-Beacon Street, from Charles Street to Arlington Street
-Boylston Street, from Arlington Street to Charles Street
-Commonwealth Avenue, from Granby Street to Alcorn Street.
Addititionally, temporary “Tow Zone No Stopping Boston Police Special Event Saturday 10 AM to Sunday 12 PM” signs will be posted on Charles Street, from Boylston Street to Beacon Street. Vehicles parked in violation of this temporary regulation will be ticketed and/or towed.
