As cities face a crisis of job retention, fading infrastructure and vacant industrial land, a new approach toward the treatment of industrial sites that integrates the built and natural environment is arising.
This lecture examines plans currently under way in Philadelphia along the lower Schuylkill River--a river lined by arboretums and oil refineries--to transform the fractured relationship between livable environments and industrial development. Drew Kane of Chan Krieger NBBJ speaks.
