Mock Trial Workshop :: Copyright and Design
Saturday October 27, 2012 from 9 am - 1 pm
Lunch to Follow
Cascieri Hall, 320 Newbury St, 2nd Floor
BAC students and members of the BAC community are invited to join Peter Steffian, along with Boston attorneys Jay Gregory and Neil Hartzell with LeClairRyan, as they conduct the 2nd Mock Trial Workshop on Saturday, October 27th, from 9 am to 1 pm. A light lunch will be served following court adjournment.
This lively format provides students with an appreciation of the difficulties that judges, lawyers and juries face in attempting to present all relevant facts and legal arguments, and insure the just resolution of the issues involved. Simultaneously, mock trials bring to life, and increase the relevance of, greater technical understanding and expertise, focusing on a range of key issues surrounding professional practice.
This event will present a realistic trial - complete with Judge, lawyers, parties, experts, and fact witnesses (you may be surprised to see who has been recruited to play active roles). A jury selected on the spot will insure that justice prevails.
This year’s trial encompasses the dicey claim of breach of copyright, with an architect and his stylish used car salesman being sued by a spec builder, who sincerely believes that they in fact designed and built a MacMansion which too closely shares significant, even “identical elements, configurations and materials” to one of his more exclusive residences in another fashionable neighborhood on the other side of Boston.
NOTE: Participating students will be eligible for Practice hours, while licensed architects in attendance will also qualify for continuing education units to help fulfill license requirements. Prior registration with the Practice Department is required in order to receive either Practice hours or CEU's.
Sponsored by BAC's Practice Department and Atelier. Interested in Pre-registering or Have Questions? Contact Len Charney, Head of Practice at: email@example.com.
