Event Recap :: Fall 2012 Open Forum

By Marcus Hamblin, Atelier President, 2012-2013 +
Perla Muller, Atelier Secretary, 2012-2013

The Open Forum is collaboration between Atelier, the Office of Student Development, and the Administration to hear student concerns. The format is a discussion for active students to voice their concerns to the Office of Student Development and the BAC administration, with the goal to come up with solutions.

This fall we focused on understanding what we can do to further improve the BAC website for current students. It was suggested that a student portal be created where all frequently accessed links would be placed.

We also discussed open studio space, and studio space for degree project students. Instructors and students voiced concern with the potential of losing current studio space, and attested to the higher quality of work that comes from working in a dedicated collaborative environment.

From this, Atelier has committed to work with administration to facilitate a design competition to better use current studio space. The discussion will continue, and we look forward to progress in this area.
