Founder and principal of James Corner Field Operations, New York City, James Corner’s designs—including the High Line in Manhattan and Freshkills Park on Staten Island—have fundamentally changed the field of landscape architecture.

Corner is the Department Chair of Landscape Architecture at the University of Pennsylvania. James Corner and Field Operations were the 2010 recipients of the Smithsonian Cooper-Hewitt National Design Award. In 2004 he received the American Academy of Arts and Letters Award in Design, and in 2000 the Daimler-Chrysler Design Award for Innovative Design and the Architectural League of New York Award.
