Recap :: BAC NOMAS February Meeting

By Chris McIntosh, BAC NOMAS Chapter President 2012-2013

Our February General Body Meeting this past Friday was very informative and packed full of great information and exciting opportunities. We discussed membership options and our upcoming events for the semester.

NOMAS is hosting the Model Building Workshop this Sunday, February 24th at 1 pm. Bring your supplies, modeling materials, and your questions. Come learn tips and tricks from your fellow students on improving your craft. There's still time to RSVP to bacnomas@the-bac.edu, and lunch will be provided.

We are planning an event with Big Sister of Greater Boston to host a career day type of event, planned for Saturday, April 13. We’d like to bring Little Sisters from the organization to the BAC to introduce young females to the design profession and our school.  We are looking for anyone interested in planning the event or helping out to get involved and contact us and make this a great day for everyone involved.

BAC NOMAS is planning on participating again in this year's Stand Against Racism, planned for Friday, April 26th. It is a nationwide initiative to bring awareness and pledge to stop discrimination in all forms. The BAC hosted our extremely successful first “Stand” last year, and we are looking for ideas on another successful event this year.

Coming up this October is the annual NOMA Conference to be hosted in Indianapolis, Indiana. The conference is a three-day gathering for networking, tours, informational seminars, and most of all -- fun! In addition to the conference, a student design competition will take place, with the opportunity for students to present their work on a national stage. Details will be announced, but the student design competition is a great opportunity to earn Practice Credits, and produce portfolio-ready work.

Please join us at our next General Body Meeting on Friday, March 8th. We’ll be discussing additional planning for our upcoming events and elections for new officers. We are always looking for new ideas and input from the BAC Community. Now is a great time to become a member! We need your help! Contact us at bacnomas@the-bac.edu if you have any questions, or if you want to get involved.
