Remembering Elsie Hurst
Thursday June 27, 2013 from 4-6 pm
951 Boylston St, Boston MA
The Boston Architectural College and her children Marsha, Barbara and Rob, invite you to a Memorial Program and Reception to honor and remember our Colleague, Mentor, Friend and Champion Elsie M. Hurst. Elsie was the former Director of Finance and Administration of the Boston Architectural College and an honorary member of the American Institute of Architects.
Elsie served on the AIA Professional Development Committee, and co-edited its newsletter. She was a charter member of Boston By Foot, and chaired the Presidents’ Task force of the Pro Arts Consortium.
Her commitment to both architecture and the arts continued long after her 1990 retirement, as she volunteered for nearly 20 years with both the Boston Society of Architects and the New Arts Center in Newton. In 2007 Elsie was awarded an Honorary Doctorate by the Boston Architectural College in recognition for her contributions to the College and the profession of architecture.
Elsie was a model of active, engaged, dignified, and graceful aging, and a role model not only for her son and her daughters and her grandchildren but for young women with whom she worked over the years.
