Ever gone back to your car to find a bright orange ticket stuck to your windshield? Allston artist Ruth Rieffanaugh saw the beauty in the emotion of discarded parking tickets that she found around her neighborhood.

Using discarded parking tickets, paint, newspaper, and other reclaimed mixed media, the artist has created several murals of Cambridge and Boston skylines.

Rieffanaugh's name might be familiar to some of our students - in addition to being the Director of the Dorchester Alternative Youth Academy, she also teaches Freehand Drawing at the BAC.

The showing, called "Parking Ticket Blues & Other Rediscovered Uses," is free to view, and runs through July 31, open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm in the Massachusetts State House. There is also an Opening Exhibit Reception on July 10 from 3:30 - 5 pm.
