Free FUN Fridays (sponsored by the Highland St. Foundation) invites you to visit designated cultural attractions every Friday this summer with free admission. No registration or tickets required. All you have to do is show up and enjoy!

Free attractions for Friday, August 23, 2013:

Isabella Stewart Gardner Museum
Free tickets for timed entry are available to this Boston institution. Sketching in the courtyard, a guided historical tour, and other artistic activities are planned for the day.
Located in the #1 commercial fishing port in the country, this museum charts the history and art of the fishing profession. Exhibits include ship models, scrimshaw, and an 89-foot ship built inside the museum.

Discover the childhood home of Louisa May Alcott and see the collection of Hudson River School landscapes and Shaker museum on site.

Museum of African American History
With locations in Boston and Nantucket, this organization includes the oldest black church built by free African American artisans and the first publicly funded African American schoolhouse. The current exhibit, Freedom Rising, celebrates the 150th anniversary of the Emancipation Proclamation.

Fitchburg Art Museum
Local and regional art are waiting to be explored at this museum northwest of the city. The museum also includes art and artifacts from antiquity.

Sterling and Francine Clark Art Institute
Travel out to the Berkshires and enjoy this collection located on 140 acres of walking trails. Currently on display are works by Winslow Homer and George Inness.
