To the returning students, welcome back! New students, I am delighted to welcome you to Boston Architectural College and its extended design community. My name is Anesu Dhliwayo, and I am the current President of Atelier (2013-14).
Atelier is the BAC’s student government and our mission is to:
-To foster communication between the BAC Administration and student body.
-To emphasize and promote professional development and social opportunities for students.
-To foster the fellowship, cooperation, and nurturing of community between BAC students.
-To manage the expenditure of student activity fees.
This coming year Atelier along with AIAS, IDS, SASLA, NOMAS, and Studio Q will be continuing BAC social traditions like, First Friday, Midterm Munchies, Food for Finals, Loft Art and PARTI. These social events are a great platform for new students to meet returning students and vice-versa. They are also an opportunity for everyone to catch-up with old friends and interact with students in different programs. Returning educational events will be Workshops and the Lecture Series. These events have enriched students' lives academically, socially and professionally.
Due to the popularity of yoga and massages for stress relief during finals, Atelier is implementing free yoga classes to be held during the fall semester, with a schedule coming soon. Atelier is currently advocating to the Back Bay Architectural Commission (BBAC) to install a new, larger bike rack in front of 320 + 322 Newbury, and working with the Facilities Department to transform the loft into a student and casual working space.
We have amazing technology resources for you all to use, a new Laser Cutter and lab + CODER Lab + MAC desktops are all located on the 4th floor. The CNC machine and Woodshop are located in the basement. Please feel free to experiment and improve your work using these resources, they are here for you.
Atelier and the other student organizations here to advocate for you and help create a better campus community. To get involved or offer suggestions please email Atelier or one of the student organizations. To stay connected and informed with what is going on campus, like Atelier on Facebook and check the blog for upcoming events.
I look forward to seeing you all around campus. Good Luck!
President of Atelier (2013-14)
