CityLab is a new, first-semester course that introduces students to Boston as a living laboratory for exploration of design and design thinking.
Serving as a nucleus for planned discovery and serendipitous learning, students come to identify the city as a complex network of buildings, landscapes, and interiors that interact with ecological and cultural systems that have evolved or been intentionally designed.
They recognize how remarkable the interdisciplinary design education that will be available to them, and meet and become quick friends with classmates and faculty who will form their community of collaborative learners.
As future designers, they begin to comprehend their role and commitment to participate in honest engagement and participatory design to positively shape the built environment.
