In November 1919 President Wilson proclaimed Nov 11th as Armistice Day to commemorate the signing of the treaty that ended World War One.
The day became a time to honor veterans who fought in World War One. In June 1954 legislation was passed to make November 11th a day to honor all veterans. To learn more about Veterans Day, click here.
There are many ways to honor veterans and celebrate Veterans Day. The City of Boston will be holding two parades one right after the other. The first parade begins at 1 pm on the corner of Charles Street and Boylston Street.
