Residential Design Studio

In the Residential Design Studio (CD603 and CD7603), taught by Denise Rush, IIDA, Director, Undergraduate Interior Design in Fall 2013, students had the opportunity to work with a young couple who was renovating their Commonwealth Avenue condo.

The studio was divided into 4 teams of two design students, who each presented design concepts to the client, and the client then selected one team to implement their design. Congratulations to the winning team - Brittany Carroll, MID, and Michael Forman, MID!

Here is what the client thought of the experience in their own words: "We had an amazing experience working with you and the student teams in your class. We loved the students' energy and intellectual curiosity around design, client interface, and ways to push their creative edge. As the professor, Denise made the engagement process and kick off so effortless. Construction projects can be overwhelming so having thoughtful and kind partners really make a difference. The students brought a level of enthusiasm and positive energy that we really needed given that we were over a year into our construction. From the initial site visit to the presentations, the students were extremely professional and prepared. We were so excited to see the design presentations--they exceeded our expectations. We appreciated how they worked to incorporate our needs and vision with new fresh elements to get to amazing designs they were so proud of. We have loved every minute of our interaction with the BAC and can’t wait to work with the winning team to finalize our design plan and home.”
