The perFORM 2014 house design competition will showcase how high performance building and high design complement one another: by fusing the two we can create houses of unsurpassed beauty and efficiency.
Why: Demonstrate that high performance building and high design are inherently complementary and that by fusing the two we can create houses of unsurpassed beauty and efficiency. Support emerging Pacific Northwest architects in their development as designers of high performance buildings.
Who: Architectural students [at NAAB or CACB accredited schools] and architectural interns [in Intern Development Program] based primarily in Washington, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, Alaska and British Columbia. Submissions from outside region are welcome. Competition open to US & Canadian residents only.
What: Design a single-family house for a family of four that meets a specified, low-load energy use intensity. Judging Criteria: resourceful, replicable, and beautiful. Cash awards and publication for 1st and 2nd place winners.
Where: Design site based in Pacific Northwest.
