Please come to this month's IES Boston and Rhode Island Sections' "Lighting the Future" Program. The event will start at 6:30 PM.

The lighting industry is undergoing a revolution, with major advancements in solid-state lighting and conventional fluorescent technology. Lighting efficiency and lamp life have fundamentally changed in recent years. Manufacturers are coming out with 100,000 hour LED fixtures and 84,000 hour linear fluorescent lamps, with similar life span as some HVAC equipment. The necessity to change a light bulb is approaching obsolescence and projects can be designed with half the Light Power Density from just a few years ago. A panel of experts will present the latest developments in lighting technology, explore the impact of these technologies in energy efficiency and in building design and maintenance, and discuss how these advancements will change the built landscape.
