Green Team :: Did You Know? #9

9. So here’s the problem, you have a shirt that doesn't fit anymore, what do you do with it? Donate it of course! What do you do with other items that no one would want? Stained towels and sheets, ripped clothing, worn out shoes, etc., did you know you can also donate those to the same charities? Charities like the American Red Cross, Goodwill and others take all textiles so long as they are clean (no smells or dirt) and dry and pass on poor quality items to be properly recycled! Even clothing stores like H&M and Puma take clothing and shoes! Keep an eye out for donation bins in grocery store parking lots where textiles can be donated. The Environmental Protection Agency estimates that the average person throws away 70 pounds of clothing per year. That adds up to 3.8 billion pounds of unnecessary waste added to our landfills! Stop the cycle and make sure your textiles get recycled!
