Fall 2015 Student Lecture Series :: Spread the Word - Theory and Territorialization of Latin American Architecture
Wednesday, October 21 - 6pm
The Boston Architectural College invites the community to join us for Spread the Word: Theory and Territorialization of Latin American Architecture, a public lecture by Florencia Rodriguez, on Wednesday, October 21, 2015 at 6 pm in Cascieri Hall.
Abstract: Contemporary modes of communication that may seem dispersed and dissolved are not at all equivalent to the annulment of new possibilities for the written word and critical thinking. On the contrary, they suggest a wider reach - spilling, disseminating, and distributing - a sort of cultural sprawl. They imply new ways of thinking about territory, ideas, discourse, transculturation and absorption. This lecture will explore the possibilities of generating territory and conforming fields through concepts and ideas. A second part will present new theoretical narratives in Latin American contemporary architecture.
Florencia Rodriguez is an architect and critic as well as founder and editorial director of Piedra, Papel y Tijera publishers in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Her editorial work is complemented by other development and dissemination activities aimed at triggering cultural "agitation" to provoke and inspire a collective evolution of the discipline.
