Student Org. of the Month :: AIAS

Each month, the Office of Student Life will be highlighting one of the many active student organization we have on campus.  This month's group is AIAS!

What is AIAS:
The American Institute of Architecture Students (AIAS) is the student branch of the American institute of Architects (AIA) professional networking group that provides advocacy efforts and knowledge resources for design professionals.

Who is AIAS:
We are a group of design students who aim to develop our careers in and outside of school.

2015-2016 AIAS Executive Board:

  • Christine Banister
  • John Mazzocchi
  • Daniel Clarke
  • Thomas Merchel
  • Jhoanny Marte
  • Courtney Walsworth
  • Anna Mezheritskaya

Why you should get involved:
As a design student, it can be hard to find the time to develop a strong professional network and build the skills necessary to help you find a job in the field. By becoming an active member of AIAS at the BAC, you are joining a larger community of design students and professionals who are excited to share learning opportunities and resources with other passionate designers.

What is AIAS's favorite event?
We love meeting new faces at our weekly coffee break event every Thursday from 6-8pm in the Loft at 320 Newbury Street. Swing by for some free coffee and informal networking between classes- This is also a great time to introduce yourself to us if you are interested in getting involved in the organization!

What is AIAS looking forward to?
Every year the AIAS collects in one city over the winter holiday break for workshops, lectures, tours, networking, and career and college expos. This year we are very excited to attend AIAS FORUM in San Francisco, CA! Any interested student is welcome to join us at FORUM, and we are even offering a scholarship that covers registration for one new student! If interested in applying, please contact!

By The Way...
In addition to enhancing our professional selves, we like to have a little fun now and then. The photos in this blog post are from our recent (very serious) photoshoot with BAC student David Morgan!
