Apply Now for Alternative Summer Break!

After a very successful first service trip to Pittsburgh, PA last March, The Office of Student Life is excited to officially announce our new Alternative Summer Break! For this Alternative Summer Break, we will be taking 10 students on a service trip with Habitat for Humanity, an organization that partners with people in your community, and all over the world, to help them build or improve a place they can call home. Projects may include building a new house, repairs to an existing house, or another type of assignment that helps meet Habitat’s goals within that community. Practice hours will also be available!

We will be leaving Boston on Monday, July 9th, and returning to Boston on Sunday, July 15th. The location of this trip is not yet confirmed, however the two most likely candidates are Newburgh, NY and Wilmington, DE!

---Please describe in a minimum of 75 words why you are interested in participating in Alternative Spring Break.

---In addition, please describe in a minimum of 100 words how you anticipate this service trip will help you grow and develop as a design professional. Be sure to refer to specific competencies in the Student Learning Contract that you expect to develop.

Applications are due on Friday, June 8th. You are encouraged to attach a word document with your summary of interest. Please note that you must be a current BAC student with health insurance coverage to participate. Participants must pay a $200 program fee to participate. The rest of the costs will be paid by the Office of Student Life. We will explore a student fundraising activity as a way to help students defray their costs.
